The new facility will create a multi functional marine space that embraces academic and social collaboration, all while engaging the view of the bay and fitting contextually with the campus around it.

The goals to locate and construct a laboratory are:

• To create a space that is suitable for academic and recreational use, as well as to use the bay as an instructional tool for research with no obstructions to the view

• To devise a clear circulation path with easy access to all work and common spaces

• To incorporate the existing campus with the new facility as well as the surrounding nature and the views of the bay
